Climate
The country is hot and humid at the coast, temperate inland and very dry in the north and northeast parts. There are two rainy seasons: Short rains from late October through November and the long rains from March through to early June.
The average annual temperature for the capital city, Nairobi is 25.20 Celsius maximum and 13.60 Celsius minimum. The altitude is 1,661 meters.
Electricity
The country uses a 220-230 V, 50 Hz voltage systems with a two-point male plug and female earth point. Delegates are therefore advised to carry adaptor or transformer.
Health
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers over one year of age. Find out from your travel agent if your country is classified as an endemic zone. For such visitors the vaccine is mandatory.
Malaria risk exists all over the country. It is advisable to take anti-malaria tabs before travelling to Kenya and especially the coast or the western part of Kenya. Nairobi is relatively safer when it comes to malaria attacks.

Several companies offer mobile phone services and SIM cards can be obtained easily from retail outlets and kiosks.

Internet Access will be available at the conference venue. In addition various hotels do provide Internet access to their clients, usually with a fee charged.
Visa
All travellers arriving in Kenya must have a valid passport. Kenya entry visas are not required for nationals of a number of countries. Participants are therefore advised to ascertain whether or not they are exempt from Kenyan entry visa requirement. Those who are not exempt should apply for visas well in advance from Kenyan Embassies or High Commissions unless they are from a country who may obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport. Religion
Religion in Kenya is a free and unrestricted affair as every citizen is guaranteed the right to follow the religion of their choice according to the constitution. Christians belong predominantly to Protestant confessions representing almost 38% of the country's religious composition. The Roman Catholic and Islamic confessions represent 26-28% and 6% of the Kenyan population respectively.
